The following is a comprehensive list of the most asked questions or issues encountered when installing and using ServiceRanger.

Can I get ServiceRanger if I am not affiliated with a OEM dealership?
ServiceRanger is provided to all vehicle OEM servicing centers that provide warranty service on any Roadranger Automated product. For more information about ServiceRanger training and how to get ServiceRanger authorization contact your local Eaton field representative.
Do I need to remove Serviceranger 2.x before updating to ServiceRanger 3.x?
There is no need to uninstall ServiceRanger 2.x as it is a separate program. ServiceRanger 2.x is currently still required to support the EVT-300 collision warning systems and Generation 1 Autoshift Transmissions.
How do I unlock the ServiceRanger 3.x software?
All users of ServiceRanger 3.x are required to register their software with Eaton. To obtain an authorization code to unlock and use the software each computer must be registered online. Click here to register.
What operating systems does ServiceRanger 3.x support?
It is recommended to run ServiceRanger on Microsoft® Windows™ XP or newer, but some older vehicle link adapters do not support these operating systems. Check with your vehicle link adapter manufacturer to make sure it supports your computer's hardware and operating system.
What vehicle link adapters work with ServiceRanger 3.x?
ServiceRanger 3.x supports a select few RP1210A compliant vehicle adapters. Check the current list of compatible vehicle link adapters for your operating system.
What are the proper vehicle link adapter settings in ServiceRanger 3.x for my communication adapter?
Proper setting of each data link connection is required to ensure reliable and stable communication. Click here to view adapter settings. The connection settings should be set up soon after your ServiceRanger installation.
How do I know if I have the most recent version of ServiceRanger?
In order to keep ServiceRanger up-to-date with the most current product software, bug fixes and feature enhancements periodic updates are made to the application and database files. The simplest way to check for the most recent version is to check the Installation/Updates section on the main ServiceRanger webpage.
Does ServiceRanger 3.x support Dana's Tire Pressure Management system?
ServiceRanger 3.x does not provide support for Dana’s Tire Pressure Management systems. Dana provides Tire Management software for full system configuration and diagnostics support. Click here to download the Dana Diagnostic Tool.
Does ServiceRanger 3.x provide support for Bendix anti-lock braking systems?
ServiceRanger does not provide support for Bendix ABS systems. For brakes information, go to www.foundationbrakes.com or call 1-800-AIR-BRAKE.
What type of vehicle link adapter do I need to program a Generation 1 AutoShift transmission with ServiceRanger 2.x?
Generation 1 AutoShift transmissions require a vehicle link adapter that supports "pass thru" RP1202 communications for programming with ServiceRanger. Make sure your vehicle like adapter supports RP1202 communications and the adapter driver supports your computer's operating system.
I have ServiceRanger version 1.26, can I update this to version 2.0 or later?
ServiceRanger version 1.26 can only be upgraded to version 2.0 on computers running Windows™ 95. It is not recommended to install version 1.26 on Windows™ 2000 or XP. Contact a Roadranger about obtaining a ServiceRanger version 2.0 or later installation CD.
When I start ServiceRanger 2.x, I get an error message: "ServiceRanger.e.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows."
This error is generated when ServiceRanger loads a vehicle link adapter driver that is not compatible. Make sure you have ServiceRanger 2.2.1 or later installed, and start ServiceRanger without connecting to the vehicle (say no to startup prompt). Select a compatible vehicle link adapter in the view\change communications setting under the utilities menu.
When I start ServiceRanger 2.x, I get an error message that says "Missing J1587 Database."
This error is a result of ServiceRanger not being able to connect to its system databases at startup. This can be caused by ServiceRanger being installed by a user that does not have the proper Windows™ permissions to install programs, or Microsoft® Data Access Components is not installed on your computer.
When I start ServiceRanger 2.x, I get an error message that says "Unable to connect to the vehicle."
This error is caused when the vehicle link adapter fails to connect to the vehicle's SAE J1587 data link. Check to make sure the proper adapter driver is selected, the adapter is properly connected and is getting power from the vehicle, and the diagnostic connector in the vehicle is properly wired. Verify the communications port on the computer is functioning properly, or if you are using a wireless adapter, make sure the wireless network is configured and functioning properly as well.
ServiceRanger connects to the vehicle, but it does not detect any Roadranger products.
Verify that the Roadranger component ECU is properly connected to the vehicle's SAE J1587 data link and is powered up. Make sure you are using an approved vehicle link adapter with ServiceRanger. If you are using a USB to Serial adapter, you may be using a USB adapter that is not compatible with Roadranger product communications.
