EN 45545-2 is the single standard for hose assembly fire behavior (toxicity, smoke density and oxygen-depletion), now adopted by all EU nations. Eaton is specifically focused on developing a complete range of hose products that meet EN45545-2 regulations.

Common applications include rolling stock applications (on-board hydraulic lines, diesel fuel lines, air / hydraulic braking systems with petroleum) and water - glycol base fluids (sanding lines, sanitary water, air conditioning, water cooling, automatic door systems).




Addresses these engineering challenges:

  • Meet or exceed the most stringent hazardous levels, including HL3 levels for R22 internal and R23 external use and are certified to conform to the EN45545-2 standards.
  • Independently tested according to ISO4589-2 (oxygen index), ISO5659-2 (smoke density) and NF X 70-100-1 and -2 (smoke toxicity).
  • The new Eaton EN 45545-2 hoses were developed using new compound recipes for both the inner tube and outer cover:
    • No need for further fire sleeve save on costs and keep the space-need minimum for the routing of the hose
    • This has led to an increased performance of up to a constant working temperatures +125°C, with intermittent temperatures of up to +130°C, while still maintaining performance at -40°C





Product Features

The Eaton Railway series of hoses conforms to the EN45545-2 standard and is now available for use on a variety of railway uses. In fact, the Eaton Railway series of hoses also meet up to R22/HL3 and R23/HL3 requirements for our 1SN, 2SN models. The Railway series of hoses are available with R22/HL2 and R23/HL3 in 1SC, 2SC and 2TE models.

EC109 Railway Hose

  • Tube: synthetic rubber
  • Reinforcement: 1 wire braid
  • Cover: Fire retardant synthetic rubber
  • Temp: -40°C to +125°C, (-40°F to +257°F)
  • Pressure: 225 bar to 88 bar (3250psi to 1276psi)

EC209 Railway Hose

  • Tube: synthetic rubber
  • Reinforcement: 2 wire braid
  • Cover: Fire retardant synthetic rubber
  • Temp: -40°C to +125°C, (-40°F to +257°F)
  • Pressure: 400 bar to 165 bar (5800psi to 2393psi)
  • Size: DN6mm to DN25 mm

EC112 Railway Hose

  • Tube: synthetic rubber
  • Reinforcement: 1 wire braid
  • Cover: Fire retardant synthetic rubber
  • Temp: -40°C to +125°C, (-40°F to +257°F)

EC212 Railway Hose

  • Reinforcement: 1 textile braid
  • Cover: Fire retardant synthetic rubber
  • Temp: -40°C to +125°C, (-40°F to +257°F)
  • Pressure: 80 bar to 40 bar (1150psi to 580psi)*
  • Size: DN5mm to DN25 mm
