Laura Eckel - Sr. Training Coordinator

Training Services, Maumee, OH

Laura  Eckel Laura began her career with Eaton in 2013 as the Senior Training Coordinator for the Hydraulics Group. She is responsible for product orders and Eaton University classes and registrations, as well as many other administrative activities.

Before joining Eaton, she was the Customer Service Supervisor for almost 2 years at Marathon Special Products in Bowling Green, Ohio. She also served as the Marketing/International Coordinator for 8 years prior to being named Supervisor. Laura has gained experience in a variety of areas including Customer Service, Marketing, Public Relations, and Graphic/Website Design since graduating from Bowling Green State University in 2000 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a specialization in Marketing.

Her "5 minutes of fame" occurred when she was named Runner-Up in the 2010 Betty Crocker Cookie Contest with her recipe for Snow Covered Crunch Bars. Laura currently resides in Sylvania, Ohio, with her Husband, Ryan, and children, Kaitlyn and Landon.  In her "free" time, she enjoys spending time with family, running and reading.

Rod Erickson – Sr. Training Instructor

Training Services – Eden Prairie, MN

Rod EricksonRod began his career with Eaton Corporation in 1988 as a machinist. He spent five years in the Eden Prairie manufacturing plant operating various machines on the steering and motor lines.

In 1993, Rod moved to the position of Sales Coordinator where he handled numerous distributor accounts in North America. His primary responsibility was to field questions about pricing, delivery, servicing, applying and selling Eaton products. In 1996 he moved to the position of Service Account Manager where he resolved warranty issues and conducted field service and repair work for distributors and OEMs.

In 1998 Rod was promoted to the position of Training Instructor. He is responsible for teaching a number of different technology and Eaton product courses. He also works with the rest of the training team editing and updating Eaton textbooks and the training curriculum for external and internal use.

He holds a BS degree in Industrial Technology Education from Valley City State University of North Dakota. His continuing education includes Vickers hydraulic training classes and a number of hydraulic courses from Hennepin Technical College. He has attended numerous other classes and seminars on hydraulics and is a FPS Certified Hydraulic Specialist, FPS Certified Mobile Mechanic, FPS Certified Connector and Conductor specialist and an FPS Certified Hydraulic Instructor.

Rod enjoys spending time with his family as well as golfing, skiing and traveling.

Gary Klingshirn – Sr. Training Instructor

Gary KlingshirnGary began his career with Eaton in 1981 joining the Aeroquip Industrial Division in Van Wert, Ohio as a draftsman. In this role he was responsible for preparing prints for manufacturing. In 1984 he was promoted into the Application Engineering group where his primary responsibility was identifying customer drawings on hydraulic hose, fittings and tube assemblies to utilize Aeroquip Products. In 1988 he moved into the Marine and Military group where he was responsible for reviewing government contracts and drawing requirements.  

In 1993 Gary was promoted to the Aeroquip Coupling Business Unit and co-designed what is known today as the "Call Center". The Call Center is responsible for handling all technical questions pertaining to the Fluid Conveyance product line.

Gary joined the training group in late 1997 as a Training Specialist. Today he's an instructor for the following Eaton Courses: Eaton Aeroquip and Eaton Weatherhead Level 200/300/400 product courses, Eaton Aeroquip Navy Flex Hose Schools for U.S. Navy personnel and Eaton Distributors, Eaton Industrial Hose Product Schools and IFPS Connector and Conductor Certification Schools.

Gary and his wife Lisa reside in Maumee, OH. In His spare time Gary enjoys biking, golfing, fishing, landscaping and traveling.

Robert Koehler - Sr. Training Specialist

Robert KoehlerRobert started his working career while still in high school gaining experience. Realizing the need for continued education he earned an Associate's Degree in Electronic Engineering. This opened the door to new positions with increasing responsibility: Bench Technician/Customer Service Representative, Service Technician in the petroleum industry, and Maintenance Supervisor for a packaging company; all increased his knowledge in hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical equipment.

In 1996 Robert started working for Tronair Inc. where he continued to build knowledge and experience with hydraulics. Robert was promoted within the company from customer service, technical service, Product Manager to OEM & Technical Sales Representative working directly with airframe manufacturers. This position required technical sales and service and creating curriculum and training customers on how to maintain, operate and repair various Tronair products.

Robert began his career with Eaton in January of 2011 as a Global Product Manager leading the industrial hose product portfolio within Fluid Conveyance. In September 2013, Robert joined the Training Services team as a Senior Training Specialist for the Fluid Conveyance product courses.

In 2004, Robert received a Bachelors of Science Degree with majors in Business Administration and Psychology from Heidelberg University and continued on at Heidelberg obtaining his MBA in 2006. He is also an IFPS Accredited Instructor, has IFPS Connector & Conductor Certification, and an authorized CNC Job Performance Exam Proctor. Robert and his wife Trisch live in Maumee, Ohio. Robert enjoys Scouting, bowling, professional football (NFL) and riding his Harley when time permits.

Paul McGavin - Sr. Training Specialist

Paul McGavinPaul's career with Eaton Corporation began in 1979 as part of the Eaton Intern program and shortly thereafter accepted a permanent position in the newly acquired Synflex group as a manufacturing engineer.

While with the Synflex group he held positions as Manufacturing Supervisor, Quality Assurance Supervisor, Plant & Project Engineer, Product & Applications Engineer, Technical Sales and Product Manager.

Prior to joining the Hydraulics Training group he was Applications Engineering Manager where among other responsibilities he managed product testing and development of training programs for employees and customers.

In January 2007, Paul joined Eaton Hydraulic Training Group in Maumee, OH and is currently a Senior Training Specialist where he teaches employees and customers 'How Hydraulics Works' in technical training classes such as Basic Hydraulics, Hydraulic Troubleshooting and Circuit Design.

Paul is an IFPS Accredited Instructor, IFPS Certified Hydraulic Specialist, holds a BSME from The University of Michigan and an MBA from The University of Dayton. He enjoys most sports, especially golf – practices Tai Chi daily – and is an avid movie watcher, especially Si-Fi.

Jyotsna Phadke - Sr. Training Specialist

Jyotsna PhadkeJyotsna joined Eaton as Senior Training Specialist in September 2013. She has several years of experience in multiple engineering disciplines.

Jyotsna graduated from a premier technological institute, Veermata Jijabai Technical Institute (VJTI) in Mumbai India with a BS in Electrical and Engineering major in Electronics & microprocessors. She joined Lawkim Ltd (Godrej) as a design and development engineer. She was responsible for developing fractional horsepower motors used in washers, refrigerators and similar equipment. She was responsible for interfacing with customers to understand their specifications and converting these into product by optimizing manufacturing on the shop floor. After working in this field for seven years, Jyotsna pursued her interest in digital creativity and graphic design by acquiring advanced education in computer arts. She started her own company and serviced multiple clients in India, which included web-based and multimedia training modules.

In 2001 Jyotsna relocated to the United States in Toledo, Ohio. She pursued her MS in Computer Science at Bowling Green State University. For the last seven years, she has been teaching computer programming, web technology and electrical, electronics engineering at various colleges, in addition to freelancing as a digital media professional.

After joining Eaton, Jyotsna acquired Hydraulics Specialist and Accredited Instructor certification from International Fluid Power Society. Her responsibilities include primarily the curriculum developments for Eaton's Electronics Controls portfolio product and developing E-learning modules for Eaton Hydraulics portfolio. She teaches Fluid Power Technology, Electro-Hydraulics classes along with ProFX series product classes on-site, nationally and inter-nationally.

Jyotsna's hobbies include oil painting and sculptures. Some of her work has been on display in art exhibitions in Toledo Museum of art.

Shawna Monson – Learning & Development Manager

Eden Prairie, MN

Brad PoethShawna is a learning and development leader passionate about helping professionals build knowledge, skills and competencies to enable high performance. She has 15 year of experience developing talent in various industries and functions, including manufacturing, retail, technology, sales, supply chain, operations, loss prevention, safety, property development and healthcare. Before joining Eaton, Shawna led learning and development strategies, programs and teams at Target Corporation and Pentair.

Shawna holds a Bachelor of Science in Human Resource Development and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction: Learning Technologies from the University of Minnesota. She serves on the alumni society board for the College of Education and Human Development.

Denis Poirier - Training Operations Manager

Training Services, Maumee, OH

Tom Blansett Denis M. Poirier Jr. began his career in the United States Navy where his primary job specialty incorporated the operation, maintenance, and repair of major caliber weapons delivery systems, small arms and associated support equipment. He has over 20 years of honorable military service with extensive experience in mechanics, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical and electronic control systems, and automated delivery systems. His industrial background included experience in the blow mold plastics industry, where he performed duties as a maintenance engineer, as well as air filtration manufacturing where he worked as a senior maintenance technician.

Denis joined the Eaton Hydraulics Group in 2013 as a Senior Training Specialist and provides detailed technical training to professionals in the hydraulics industry. He conducts sessions in the area of industrial hydraulics, mobile hydraulics, troubleshooting, electro-hydraulics and Eaton specific products.

He is a licensed journeyman in the electronics mechanic trade; a Master Training Specialist with the Center for Naval Education and Training; a licensed Training Specialist with Southern Illinois University; holds a Bachelor of Science in Workforce Education and Development; holds a Master of Science in Criminal Justice with a focus in Homeland Security Administration; certified as an Accredited Instructor and Job Performance Exam Proctor with the International Fluid Power Society; and actively pursuing a Doctor of Education with a specialization in Global Training and Development.

Rachel Tranberry – eLearning Program Manager

Training Services, Eden Prairie, MN

Rachel Tranberry Rachel began her career with Eaton in 2000 with the Hydraulics group in Customer Support. She joined the Training Services department in 2005. Currently she is responsible for managing eLearning programs for the Hydraulics group,  develops content, tests and deploys eLearning for Eaton's and Distributors' Sales Force via Eaton's Learning Management System.

Rachel received her Bachelor's Degree  in 1996 from the University of Minnesota with a Major in Political Science and a Minor in French.  As part of a program with The American University in Washington, D.C., she spent a semester as an intern at the Center for Democracy; a non-government organization.  Prior to joining Eaton, Rachel's professional background includes multimedia production for radio and television broadcast.

Her hobbies include exploring Minneapolis' many lakes, gardening, watching movies, trying new restaurants, game nights with friends and traveling. The most memorable trips include China, Mexico, sailing on Lake Superior and in the British Virgin Islands, where she earned her bare-boat charter certification. Rachel lives in Minneapolis, MN with husband Jeff, daughters Stella 4 years, Sophia 7 years, and their Rat Terrier dog, Todd.
