To OBE or not to OBE

With a controller built in, valves with onboard electronics (OBE) do not require an external controller. Valves with OBE offer a number of advantages. Among them:

  • Simpler, faster and lower cost valve package installation

Three performance levels, a world of possibilities

Our proportional directional valves with OBE are available in three performance levels – ultra, high and standard performance – to suit a wide range of application requirements.

Ultra performance

KBS direct-acting and KBH pilot-operated servo performance valves

  • Single solenoid analogue valve
  • Spool goes to 4th position when power is removed (pilot spool goes to 4th position when power is removed)
  • Amplifier has spool position feedback (amplifier has pilot and main-stage spool position feedback)
  • Zero lap spool options
  • Suitable for closed-loop pressure and position control
  • Requires dedicated control amplifier

High performance

KBF direct-acting and pilot-operated single feedback valves

  • Dual solenoid analogue valve
  • Spool stays in centre position when power is removed (pilot spool stays in centre position when power is removed)
  • Amplifier has spool position feedback (amplifier has only main-stage spool position feedback)
  • Consistent valve-to-valve performance
  • No field adjustments required
  • Simple installation and start-up
  • Spool position monitor connection

Standard performance

KBD direct-acting and pilot-operated non-feedback valves

  • Dual solenoid digital valve
  • Spool stays in centre position when power is removed (pilot spool stays in centre position when power is removed)
