ROZTOKY, Czech Republic – Intelligent power management company Eaton proudly hosted its annual Open Day at the Eaton European Innovation Center (EEIC) in Roztoky, Czech Republic, on November 7, 2024. Held in collaboration with Business For Society the largest platform for responsible business in the Czech Republic, the event enabled aspiring engineers to discover varied career opportunities and see what life is like at a leading hub for European energy innovation.
Free-to-attend and hosted by senior Eaton leaders, the EEIC Open Day gave diverse students and young professionals the chance to hear expert talks, network with industry veterans, prepare for job applications, and tour high-tech labs focused on sustainable power challenges like the energy transition to renewables, direct current grid integration, clean transport, and advanced electrical distribution and protection.
Leveraging Business For Society’s extensive network of responsible organizations, the Open Day also included a high-profile roundtable discussion on innovation and sustainability with representatives from leading companies, universities, the Czech government and the European Union. Guest speakers included Lukáš Vlček, Minister of Industry and Trade, Martin Svášek from the European Commission in the Czech Republic, Ondřej Boreš from VELUX Group, Alexandra García Gjuric from Microsoft, Martin Bursík from the Chamber of Renewable Energy Sources z.s. and Marcela Ludvíková from Eaton Elektrotechnika s.r.o.
“Our inclusive annual Open Day welcomes students and young engineers from varied backgrounds and offers a fantastic chance to discover who we are, what we stand for, and how we can support their long-term career success,” says Jaroslav Neuvirth, HR manager, Eaton European Innovation Center. “As we tackle crucial sustainability challenges through fast-paced power innovation, we need a broader range of expertise than ever before. Uniting talented people with different ideas and perspectives is vital to accelerate our efforts.”
Opened in January 2012, the EEIC has built a global reputation for solving the world’s toughest power management challenges. As part of Eaton’s worldwide Corporate Research and Technology group, this state-of-the-art center plays a vital role in the company’s multi-billion-dollar R&D efforts. To develop more efficient, safe, and sustainable solutions, the EEIC now unites over 180 specialists from 20 countries with expertise spanning automotive, residential, electro and IT power innovation. The EEIC regularly contributes to major European Union and Czech government innovation projects, most recently joining the HEROPS consortium to advance hydrogen-powered commercial aircraft.
“Having named Eaton a Top Responsible Company in the Czech Republic last year, we were delighted to collaborate on the recent EEIC Open Day,” says Pavel Štern, director, Business For Society. “With the world being transformed by new technologies, population growth and climate change, the importance of prioritizing sustainability, environmental stewardship, community support and employee wellbeing has never been more clear. We’re proud to be working with organizations like Eaton that are dedicated to doing business right.”
“We were thrilled to give so many young engineers a glimpse into the important role they can play in enabling power innovation for a more sustainable future,” adds Neuvirth. “We hope this year’s EEIC Open Day is just the first step on an exciting career journey for all those who joined us.”
