A University committed to the Energy Transition

Committed to drive the energy, economic and social transition, the Catholic University of Lille in France launched the Live Tree program in 2013 with the aim to transform the University into a zero carbon campus by 2035. Eaton supports them with the installation of Eaton xStorage Buildings energy storage system. Watch the video below to discover how.

We chose Eaton for this project because they meet our needs in terms of scalability for the battery pack and allowed us to easily integrate our system into our existing architecture.

Enabling the integration of renewable energy production on the campus

xStorage Buildings enables the integration of a renewable energy production source and maximizes its consumption on the campus. With a capacity of 250 kWh, it enables to store energy from the 1300 m2 photovoltaic panels on the University's historic islet to optimize the self-consumption of renewable energy, thus reducing carbon footprint.

Using stored solar energy to charge electric vehicles

The xStorage Buildings system stores the unused energy which is then redistributed during peak periods or when re-charging an electric vehicle. The system is used to power three electric vehicle charging stations. This represents six charging points with 132 kW of consumption at full load. This brings a great modularity and a flexibility with regards to the electrical grid.

The other strong differentiating points from Eaton were the quality of the customer support, and the ability to adapt the entire command control of the system to our real needs and achievement goals.
