Eaton’s quality assurance program is in compliance with ISO 9001:2008, as well as many other industry standards and specifications. 

Materials and finishes

Unless otherwise noted in our strut system catalog, the material used is steel. Multiple finishes are available for maximum design flexibility. A minimum order size may be required for special materials or finishes. Finishes include:

  • Plain - ASTM A1011 33,000 psi minimum yield
  • DURA GREEN™ finish
  • Pre-galvanized - ASTM A653 33,000 psi minimum yield
  • Hot-dipped galvanized - ASTM A123
  • Yellow zinc chromate - ASTM B633 SC3 Type II)
  • Stainless steel Type 304 - ASTM A240
  • Stainless steel Type 316 - ASTM A240
  • Aluminum 6063-T6 

Design load

The design loads given for strut beam loads are based on a simple beam condition using an allowable stress of 25,000 psi. The allowable stress results in a safety of 1.68. The safety factor is based on virgin steel minimum yield strength of 33,000 psi cold worked during rolling to an average yield stress of 42,000 psi. For aluminum channel loading, multiply steel loading by a factor of 0.38.
