LONG BRANCH, NJ — Power management company Eaton announced the launch of its new line of Wheelock Exceder LED3 notification appliances, the industry’s first LED conventional devices to comply with the latest National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code requirements for flash duration. Eaton’s advanced, energy-efficient LED design requires less power, allowing more devices to be connected to fewer power supplies and helping commercial and industrial customers reduce overall costs in fire alarm systems.
The Wheelock Exceder LED3 line includes strobes, horn strobes, horns, speakers, speaker strobes, low frequency sounder strobes, and sounders for both ceiling and wall-mount, indoor applications. With low current draw, Eaton is helping customers reduce installation costs, materials, and overall system costs in a compact, low-profile, aesthetically-pleasing solution that is designed to blend with building decor. In addition, the high-fidelity speakers provide leading intelligibility for mass notification and emergency communications.
“Eaton is the first in the industry to introduce LED notification appliances, and our latest line of Wheelock Exceder LED technology continues to build on nearly a century of innovation and expertise,” said Huyenchau Villas, product manager for Eaton’s life safety and mass notification solutions. “By meeting the NFPA’s 20 millisecond flash duration requirements for strobes, customers can now mix xenon and LED devices in the same field of view. This energy-efficient line is ideal for retrofit applications as well as new construction, since Eaton offers a complete range of low and high candela offerings with its other Wheelock product lines.”
The Wheelock Exceder LED3 product line has been UL/ULC listed as compatible with all fire alarm control panels (FACP) and accessories that have been determined to be compatible with Wheelock RSS strobe-based products. The listing also includes the ability to install the Exceder LED3 strobes in the same notification zone and field of view with any Wheelock RSS strobe model.
