Date: August 10, 2017

IRVINE, Calif. …Hydraulic technology supplied by power management company Eaton helped power the successful first flight of Irkut Corporation's MC-21 commercial airliner. Eaton was selected by Irkut to support the design, development, qualification and certification of the hydraulic power generation system components for the MC-21, which completed its maiden flight on May 28 at the Irkutsk Aviation Plant airfield in Siberia.

"Eaton is honored to be a member of Irkut's development team as we celebrate an exciting milestone for the MC-21 aircraft program and for the Russian civil aviation industry," said Huntley Myrie, senior vice president and general manager of the Aerospace Group's Fuel and Motion Control Systems Division. Working with Irkut has presented opportunities for Eaton to demonstrate its capabilities to the growing Russian aerospace market."

Eaton manufactured highly reliable engine-driven pumps for the first flying prototype of MC-21 and supplied additional system sub-components including filters, thermal bypass valves, firewall shut-off valves, priority valves, check valves, high-pressure filter modules, return case drain filter modules, heat exchangers, and pressure switches.
