PITTSBURGH, PA — Power management company Eaton today announced its 2017 Industrial Controls in Motion mobile tour will stop in Pittsburgh on Tuesday, July 25, from 9 to 10 a.m. at Eaton’s Electrical Headquarters in Moon Township. Representatives from Carnegie Science Center will help spectators understand the importance of investing talent and resources in advanced technology solutions, like those provided by Eaton.
“Eaton and the Carnegie Science Center share the vision of providing interactive, hands-on, STEM education that inspires our audiences to become engaged in advanced technology” says Ann Metzger, Henry Buhl, Jr., Co-Director of Carnegie Science Center. “By using a fully functional, interactive demonstration in real-world environments, Eaton’s Industrial Controls in Motion mobile exhibit goes beyond traditional training methods to help children and adults better understand how technology is integral to most things that we take for granted in our everyday lives.”
The mobile exhibit features four interactive demos arranged by commercial and industrial application environments. Live demo areas include: a redundant variable frequency drive (VFD) HVAC system, a multi-booster pump system, a material handling conveyor, and a mixing and separating process. An interactive Internet of Things (IoT) component allows visitors to receive alerts on their mobile phones when faults are activated within the trailer.
“At Eaton, we believe that power is a fundamental part of just about everything people do. That’s why we’re excited to bring a unique, fully functional, real-world experience of next generation control products to Pittsburgh,” said Ruppert Russoniello, president of the Controls and Protection Division at Eaton. “By walking through the Industrial Controls in Motion environment, visitors can interact with everyday systems outfitted with Eaton’s cutting-edge technology to discover how we are making sure that our neighborhoods never stop working.”
The 40-foot trailer is outfitted with on-board generator power and a retractable awning. The trailer’s application environment consists of complete Eaton solutions spanning the Industrial Controls Division, Eaton’s circuit protection components, motor control centers (MCCs), B-Line series cable tray systems, and Crouse-Hinds series explosion proof enclosure solutions.
In January, the Industrial Controls in Motion trailer made its first stop in Las Vegas, Nevada at the 2017 Air Conditioning, Heating and Refrigeration (AHR) Exposition. The trailer is also planned to visit other select cities including Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Cleveland, Ohio. The tour will conclude in November with a final visit to Fresno, California.
