VESA (Video Electronics Standards Association) promotes uniformity in the video electronics industry by developing industry-wide standards for products like flat-panel TVs and monitors. To comply with these standards, most manufacturers use a series of universal mounting hole patterns, measured in millimeters, on the backs of the products.
