We make what matters work. Sustainably.

We are powered by our vision, driven by strategy, guided by our aspirational goals and committed to doing business right.

Improving the quality of life and the environment

Many, if not most things today require power – communicating, feeding our families, heating and cooling indoor environments, managing our health, travelling for work or recreation and providing goods and services to others.

Eaton's vision is to improve the quality of life and the environment through the use of power management technologies and services. We have a vital purpose in our world because we create the products and services that help our customers – and their customers – manage and use power in a way that fulfils their objectives.

The world is calling for nations and businesses to work together to address global climate change. Human-induced climate change has wrought observable impacts on people, infrastructure and ecosystems, including increases in global temperatures, more frequent heatwaves, extreme precipitation in some regions and droughts in others.

We have developed science-based greenhouse gas reduction targets consistent with the challenge presented to corporations by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), the United Nations body for assessing the science related to climate change. The group recently declared a climate emergency and issued an urgent request to companies around the world to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Our sustainability strategy

Our sustainability strategy was guided by the collaborative process we undertook to identify and prioritise key material issues at Eaton. Those priorities helped us determine which areas within the company will have the greatest impact in our efforts to improve sustainability.

Aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals

Our work aligns closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which were created to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.

For example, as demand on the power grid increases, we’re helping municipalities and utilities optimise power efficiency and distribution, including clean energy from solar and wind. With a global population increase of about 82 million people per year, food production – from field to table – will need to be more efficient, minimising waste while improving food safety. And working with many of the world’s largest manufacturers, we help make air and land transport operate more efficiently and safely, while consuming fewer resources.
