The complex Ethernet star topology is defined by a simple line or tree structure in which the use of switches can be omitted. The characteristics of the EtherCAT technology as described in IEC standard 61158 are suitable for ‘hard‘ as well as ‘soft‘ real-time requirements in automation technology.

Powerful description files define the functional characteristics of the devices, simplifying the development and commissioning of universal applications based on any controller with EtherCAT master function.
