xEffect FRCdM Type B, Bfq and B+ residual current circuit breakers

The FRCdM meets the highest requirements for the protection of both people and equipment. Types B, B+ and Bfq RCCBs detect AC pulsating, DC residual and smooth DC residual currents. All products are designed and comply with IEC 61008 and IEC 62423 standards.

Type B RCCBs are the standard type and are sensitive to all residual currents up to 1 kHz. Type B+ devices are sensitive to all residual currents while also being equipped with a special tripping curve that limits the tripping current to max. 420 mA for frequencies up to 20 kHz. Type Bfq devices meanwhile can tolerate systems-induced earth leakage currents at higher frequencies up to 50 kHz.

Core features

  • Integrated auxiliary contact and LEDs for preventive remote/local warning before the RCD trips
  • Real-time measurement of residual currents
  • Part of the xEffect series for fault current protection and additional protection in industrial/commercial applications
  • Type B+ devices also meet the requirements for advanced fire protection according to VDE 0664-400
  • Contact position indicator red - green  and tripping indicator white - blue
  • 2 pole and 4 pole devices with transparent designation plate and comprehensive range of accessories
  • Can be positioned on the busbar at the top or bottom
  • Z-HK auxiliary switch can be retrofitted
  • Time-delayed types (G, S) suitable for use with standard fluorescent lamps, with or without electronic ballast (30mA-RCD: 30 units per phase conductor)
  • FRC...400 for 3-phase IT applications (400V phase to phase)

xEffect Digital Switchgear

The digital RCCB from the xEffect series do more than just switch off. They monitor electrical installations and give advance warning of critical current flows. So plant / factory shutdowns – and the resulting costs – can be avoided.

Functioning LED monitoring:

  • The green LED becomes active
    at 0-30% IΔn
  • Tolerance: ± 5%
  • If the current flow in the system to ground is in the ambit from 0 to 30 % of the nominal fault current, the green LED indicates the proper status.
xEffect Residual Current Circuit Breaker FRCdM Type AC, A, U, R - yellow LED
  • The yellow LED becomes active
    at 30-50% IΔn
  • Tolerance: ± 5%
  • The yellow LED shows a residual current in the ambit of 30 to 50 % of the nominal fault current. Before the system is shut down, professional countermeasures can be taken.
  • The red LED becomes active
    at >50% IΔn
  • Tolerance: ± 5%
  • When the red LED lights up, the leakage current is already higher than 50 % of the nominal fault current. Therefore the system is in a critical status – the digital RCCB only trips when the fault current continues to increase.

Type B increases safety and reliability

Smooth DC residual currents can occur in industrial, commercial and residential applications which contain photovoltaic systems, frequency converters or electronic components. The extended sensitivity of the RCCB Type B increases safety and reliability considerably by reducing nuisance tripping.

Reliable protection for machines

These products provide an optimal system and additional protection against residual earth leakage currents for a wide range of applications by offering different tripping characteristics to cater for various electrical systems and components that can generate. Available in a comprehensive range of nominal current values and with optional accessories.

Benefits:

  • Reliable protection for machines with
    3-phase frequency converters
  • Safe power disconnection at smooth DC
    and AC residual Currents
  • Detection of high frequency
    residual currents
  • Highest system availability by
    digital technology and pre-warnings

Digital technology allows permanent indication

The special adapted tripping curve incorporated in the RCCB Type Bfq complies with the specifications of the standard RCCB Type B and avoids in addition unwanted tripping in industrial applications which contains high-power frequency converter controls. Bfq types are the special B type with adapted tripping curve up to 50 kHz for all types of residual current. They are resistant to tripping by leaking currents in circuits with powerful frequency inverters.

Different types offer several advantages

Type -G/B and G/B+: High reliability against unwanted tripping. Compulsory for any circuit where personal injury or damage to property may occur in case of unwanted tripping. Protection against all types of fault currents.
Type -S/B and S/B+: Selective residual current device. Protection against all types of fault currents.
Type -S/Bfq: Suitable for speed-controlled drives with frequency converters inhousehold, trade, and industry.Unwanted tripping is avoided thanks to a tripping characteristic designed particularly for frequency converters. Protection against all types of fault currents.
