UL Listed System Combination-Type AFCI
Eaton now offers a system combination-type AFCI. This new solution consist of a (1) UL 489 circuit breaker and (1) AFCI or Dual Function (AF/GF) Outlet Branch-Circuit receptacle, which has been tested and listed as a system to provide complete AFCI protection within the home as required by 210.12(A)(4)(d).
The advantages of the system combination-type AFCI kit, containing (1) UL 489 circuit breaker and (1) AFCI or Dual Function (AF/GF) Outlet Branch-Circuit receptacle as indicated by the selected catalog number, include:

The system combination-type circuit breaker will detect and interrupt over-current and short circuit conditions per UL 489.
The Dual Function AF/GF receptacle is designed for personnel ground fault protection and will trip when leakage current conditions exist in accordance with UL 943.
System combination-type AFCI devices work together to detect and interrupt both low current and high current arc faults anywhere in the branch circuit in accordance with UL 1699. The circuit breaker and AFCI receptacles have been tested and listed as a pair to meet the conditions laid out in paragraph 210.12(A)(4)(d) of the current edition of the NEC.
