Magnum integral motorized remote racking

Eaton's Integral motorized remote racking (MR2) provides a means of remotely racking any Magnum PXR draw out circuit breaker using in low voltage assemblies.  The integral racking system can also be utilized to open and close the circuit breaker remotely, using local or remote controls. The addition of an MR2 system helps mitigate electrical arc flash exposure by allowing the operator to work from outside the arc flash boundary.
  • Available in all Magnum PXR and Power Defense SB draw out circuit breaker frames
  • MR2 device is installed in the circuit breaker
  • Eliminates the need for an operator to breach the arc flash boundary
  • All safety interlocks remain intact per UL 1066 Annex D
  • Can be integrated with switchgear secondary control circuits, SCADA systems, Modbus interfaces, or discrete wiring

Launch event: Digitally transform switchgear with Magnum breaker with PXR

Recently, Eaton's Manny Fernandez led our product experts, Mitch McClain and AJ Johnson, through a discussion about a digital transformation for switchgear. The event introduced never-before seen capabilities in our Magnum low-voltage circuit breakers and explained how intelligent power distribution assemblies enhance safety, connectivity and reliability. Work safer

The arc flash boundary is an approach limit from an arc source at which incident energy equals 1.2 cal/cm2. The handheld MR2 pendant allows work to be performed from outside the arc flash boundary for enhanced arc flash safety. Standing outside the arc flash boundary of the switchgear, an operator can open/close the circuit breaker, and can select and rack the circuit breaker between Disconnect, Test, or Connect positions. Per NFPA 70E standard, working outside the arc flash zone allows for PPE reduction.

Intelligently designed

  • Can be integrated into switchgear secondary control circuits, SCADA systems, Modbus interface, or discrete wiring
  • Pendant will override remote communications when plugged into a specific circuit breaker port
  • The MR2 system tracks and logs racking records to simplify maintenance scheduling
  • Built-in logic detects interference, provides suggested corrective actions and prevents operation until any error has been cleared
