Variable Frequency Drives

PowerXL DM1 variable frequency drives

The PowerXLTM DM1 variable frequency drives combine maximum functionality in combination with a small footprint. The devices can be used wherever space is limited, but where the functionality of a standard universal drive is nevertheless required. This includes pump and HVAC applications as well as the control of conventional motors such as asynchronous or PM motors. Single-phase (115/230 V) and three-phase versions (400/600 V) are available, covering the power range up to 22 kW. The DM1 Pro version comes with safe torque off and extensive communication protocols as standard.

Space-saving installation in existing systems

Thanks to its compact design, the DM1 fits into small housings with a depth of only 200 mm. This small footprint allows for a cost-effective control panel installation.

Connect with Profinet option module

The DM1 variable frequency drives are compatible with various communication modules that enable them to connect to different network protocols. For applications that require Ethernet networks, the DM1 offers a Profinet option board. This board supports a dual-port interface, which simplifies the creation of a line-structure. By linking the DM1 to Profinet, you can access real-time data from your system, making it easy to diagnose and and maintain your equipment. Moreover, you can save time and resources on wiring, testing and commissioning.

DM1 and DM1 Pro: Drive Solutions for Simple and Complex Applications

DM1: A Cost-Optimized and Easy-to-Use Drive

The DM1 is ideal for simple applications that do not require additional controls. It enhances your performance with features such as Modbus RTU, V/f control, and Bluetooth.

DM1 Pro: A Streamlined and Advanced Drive

The DM1 Pro is designed for more complex processes that need advanced features and flexibility. It includes all the features of the DM1 and offers additional ones such as:

  • A keypad with a 7-segment display and a setpoint potentiometer.
  • STO on board for safety.
  • Advanced networking options such as Modbus TCP, BACnet MSTP, BACnet IP, Ethernet IP, Web server, and Bluetooth.
  • Flexible motor control modes such as V/f control, Vector control, and PM motor control.
  • A slot for one option card for additional functionality.
  • Multi-pump features and a PI controller for process control.
  • Profinet (optional) for industrial communication.

Support during commissioning – integrated web server, inControl and Keypad

The DM1 Pro has a built-in web server that lets you access and modify all the device settings and diagnostic data without any external software. You can also use the Power Xpert inControl software, included in the One Installer package, to commission the DM1 standard and DM1 Pro offline. This software has the same features as the web server and is useful when you need to adjust the DM1 without any device. Alternatively, you can commission the drives with the remote DG1 keyboard, which works with both the DM1 standard and the DM1 Pro and shows all the parameters and settings in clear text.

Maximum functionality in a compact design

Accessories for PowerXL Drives

We provide a variety of accessories that are designed for our PowerXL variable frequency drives, as well as some that are compatible with other products. These accessories include line reactors, load reactors, sine filters, and braking resistors. They enable you to customize the range and adjust to different EMC environments and line-side operating conditions.

Harmonics

The DM1 variable frequency drive is a cost optimized drive. For applications requesting a defined THDi (total harmonic current distortion) value, Eaton offers streamlined solutions. While standard applications may not need a choke at all, for higher requirements we offer standard chokes. With a choke, typically a THDi=40% is met. In case your application is demanding even better values, Eaton offers optional Passive Harmonic filters to impove the THDi below the 5% level (8% below 40% load). This allows to meet the IEC 61000-3-2 & IEC 61000-3-12 standards as well as the IEE 519 requirements for UL installations.

Eaton will support you with all aspects related to energy efficiency

The ErP Directive and the increasing automation of machines are driving the demand for variable speed devices, even in simple applications. What does complying with the ErP Directive mean for you, and how can you make your applications more energy efficient? You can find answers to these and other questions in our comprehensive white papers and brochures, as well as in our podcast with energy-efficiency experts from Eaton.
