Variable Frequency Drives

PowerXL DG1 variable frequency drive

Eaton's PowerXL DG1 drives are designed for challenging and advanced applications. They are versatile drives, especially suitable for pumps, fans and conveyor belts. They offer high efficiency, safety and reliability, with an energy-saving algorithm, a high short-circuit rating and a robust design. They have all the major global approvals and a wide range of built-in interfaces and communication protocols. They also have two extra slots for expanding the inputs/outputs. They can be easily connected to wireless networks with an external WLAN to Modbus-TCP Gateway. The DG1 drives have mains voltages of 230 V, 400 V to 500 V, and 525 V to 600 V, and cover the power range from 0.75 kW to 630 kW.

Põhiomadused

  • Industry-leading energy savings algorithm
  • High short-circuit ratings, 100 kA
  • Comprehensive on-board communication protocols (Modbus RTU, Modbus TCP, Ethernet IP, Bacnet MS/TP) and inputs/outputs
  • Robust power section with a nominal temperature range of -30° to 50° without derating
  • STO (safe torque off) safety feature
  • Two independent, cascadable and user-configurable PID controllers

Configuration made easy

The PowerXL DG1 drive is easy to configure, thanks to the integrated LCD display. Only 18 parameters are required to set up the basic functions: motor data, frequency range, date, time, language. Once the system is configured, the application is ready for operation.

Tough in harsh environments

The DG1 devices have high temperature and short-circuit tolerance: they can operate at full capacity up to +50 °C without derating. They also have a high short-circuit proof rating (100 kA), ensuring safety and stability. They have long-lasting fans and a flexible fan controller that reduces the risk of failure. Their enhanced PCB shields them from moisture and corrosive air. Thanks to their high protection level of IP54, these devices can be installed without control panels and can be mounted in various orientations and locations to meet the needs of the application.

Connect everywhere with Profinet option board

The DG1 variable frequency drives are compatible with various communication modules that enable them to connect to different network protocols. For applications that require Ethernet networks, the DG1 offers a Profinet option board. This board supports a dual-port interface, which simplifies the creation of a line-structure. By linking the DG1 to Profinet, you can access real-time data from your system, making it easy to diagnose and and maintain your equipment. Moreover, you can save time and resources on wiring, testing and commissioning.

Configuration made easy, with the Power Xpert inControl tool

The Power Xpert inControl software for PC, which is included in the One Installer package, will support you during commissioning. In addition to the general configuration and diagnostics features, the software can also be used to read out the integrated oscilloscope. You can record data for up to eight channels simultaneously in increments of 10 ms. As well as the PowerXL range, the Power Xpert InControl tool will also be used for all future communication enable devices.

Accessories for PowerXL Drives

We provide a variety of accessories that are designed for our PowerXL variable frequency drives, as well as some that are compatible with other products. These accessories include line reactors, load reactors, sine filters, and braking resistors. They enable you to customize the range and adjust to different EMC environments and line-side operating conditions.

Harmonics

The DG1 variable frequency drives have built-in DC-chokes that reduce harmonic distortion and improve power quality without adding extra cost. They can achieve a typical level of 30% THDi (total harmonic current distortion). If your application requires even lower harmonic levels, Eaton provides optional passive harmonic filters that can lower the THDi below 5% (8% below 40% load). This enables you to comply with the IEC 61000-3-2 & IEC 61000-3-12 standards as well as the IEE 519 requirements for UL installations.

Eaton will support you with all aspects related to energy efficiency.

The ErP Directive and the increasing automation of machines are driving the demand for variable speed devices, even in simple applications. What does complying with the ErP Directive mean for you, and how can you make your applications more energy efficient? You can find answers to these and other questions in our comprehensive white papers and brochures, as well as in our podcast with energy-efficiency experts from Eaton.
