PowerXL DH1 - How to run a motor in Hand and Auto mode

In this video you will learn how to run a motor in Hand and Auto mode with the PowerXL DH1.

The Eaton Power XL DH1 variable frequency drive has two modes of operation: Hand and Auto

Both modes determine 2 things:

  1. Where the PowerXL DH1 will receive a run command.
  2. The speed reference source.

Here is how you select Auto mode and Hand mode.

  • Press the Auto button on the keypad.  The yellow, AUTO, LED indicator light will be illuminated.  Also, the Control Place status indicator on the display screen will display I/O, if the default settings are unchanged.
  • The default run command in Auto mode is I/O terminal start 1-- DI1.
  • The default speed reference in Remote is analog input 1 (AI1)—which is 0-10V input.
  • Press the HAND button on the keypad, the yellow, REMOTE, LED indicator light will not be illuminated.  Also, the Control Place status indicator on the display screen will display KEYif default settings are unchanged.
  • The default run command in Hand mode is the green button on the keypad.
  • The default speed reference for Hand mode is Keypad Reference (P4.1.1). Keypad reference can be changed with the up and down keypad arrows.
