PowerXL DC1 compact variable frequency drives

The PowerXLTM DC1 variable frequency drive stands out with its small size and user-friendly interface. The DC1 was specifically developed for use in standard applications such as fans, pumps and conveyors. With the activation of additional parameters and functionalities, the DC1 can also cover demanding applications involving IE4 (Super Premium Efficiency) motors. Thanks to their quick and simple commissioning, the DC1 drives are ideally suited for serial production. With various available mains voltages and a performance range of 0.37 kW to 22 kW, the DC1 also offers maximum flexibility.

Can be customized to any application

The DC1 models are available with an optional integrated EMC filter or brake transistor. The number of relay outputs can be easily expanded using plug-in expansion modules. Moreover, the devices can be connected to Ethernet/IP-based protocols and to the SmartWire-DT system via the available communication modules.

The variable speed starter comes with an optional SmartWire-DT interface. Our intelligent communication system allows for the quick planning and implementation of simple, streamlined structures. This eliminates the need for any I/O level on the PLC itself. Data transparency further simplifies the diagnostics and maintenance of your system, reducing the time required for wiring, testing and commissioning.

A high degree of protection for decentralized applications

Besides the IP20 protection-class devices, the DC1 also offers IP66-rated versions for applications up to 22 kW. These devices can handle damp, dusty, or contaminated environments without any issue. With the waterproof ABS case and the corrosion-resistant heat sink, they are suitable for the food industry, agriculture, or car wash systems. They have optional local control elements: an integrated setpoint potentiometer, a selector switch, and a main switch that allow the configuration of the DC1 drives on site.

The drivesConnect software for PC allows you to monitor specific display values in real time during operation, which enables optimal diagnostics.

Easy configuration and diagnostics

With the serial RJ45 interface, several configuration options are available: Eaton's comprehensive and convenient external keypads, the communication stick, the drivesConnect Windows software, or the drivesConnect Mobile App for smartphones or tablets. This makes it possible to configure, copy and save the parameters as well as to display setpoint and actual values, or to read out the diagnostic and fault memory on site. The simultaneous graphical representation of up to four actual values allows users to gain a quick overview and to rapidly identify if any parameter settings have changed. In the case of parameter sets that have already been saved, offline processing without the variably frequency drive is also possible. The parameter sets can be easily copied to any number of devices, which also saves time during commissioning.

Fieldbus communication is key

The DC1 integrates seamlessly into existing automation solutions and also enables new, innovative machine and system concepts based on Industry 4.0. The device allows you to connect them to PROFINET and Ethernet/IP networks via plugable modules. Supporting a dual-port interface, it‘s easy to build up a line structure. Connecting DC1 to Ethernet based networks makes it easier, to diagnose and maintain your equipment and saving your time and resources on wiring, testing and commissioning. For standard communications, each device has an integrated Modbus RTU and CANopen interface on-board, which allows you to be easily connected to these cost-optimized network solutions.
