Ethernet

The easyE4 features an integrated Ethernet interface with an RJ45 connector. This high-performance interface is not only compatible with various communication protocols, but is also encrypted using our own easyE4 certificates for protection against cyber-attacks. The various communication options are described below.

JSON API (Application Programming Interface)

JSON API is a programming interface for exchanging JSON objects between the easyE4 and connected web modules via API using the built-in Ethernet connection. This allows the easyE4 to communicate with development environments such as Node-Red and various other systems, for example those used for (home) automation. The interface provides write and read access to the easyE4's data and parameters, without the need for an internet connection.

SmartWire-DT

Eaton's intelligent SmartWire-DT wiring system is the ideal option for simple and consistent communication with different modules. New modules can thus also be easily integrated into existing systems. No additional software is required, as the modules are configured via a drag-and-drop function in easySoft. This also enables flexible setups inside and outside the control cabinet as well as configuration via remote access. In addition, SmartWire-DT solves the challenge of retrieving data if conventionally wired control relays are used, as status and other information from all modules can be easily evaluated, which significantly simplifies diagnostics and troubleshooting. The SmartWire-DT module connects to the left side of the easyE4 and acts as a coordinator of the communication network.

easyNet

The integrated NET network function enables several easyE4 devices in the same network to communicate with each other via Ethernet. If multiple easyE4s are included in a project, the easySoft software will automatically configure the NET connection allowing data to be exchanged smoothly between them. The data of an easyE4 device can also be temporarily stored on a NET marker and displayed on another device.
