Human Machine Interface (HMI)

XP500 industrial PC family

Think differently about industrial panel PCs

For harsh, demanding applications, industrial panel PCs set the standard for configurability and robustness. Eaton’s XP500 series industrial panel PC meets these demands with a scratch-resistant toughened glass screen, cast-aluminum housing and fan-less design. These features make the XP500 HMI a slim space-saving panel that is able to survive the harshest environments.

Introducing the XP504 industrial PC

Intuitive operation:
Multi-touch screen
Robust design:
Tempered and anti-glare, hardened, single-paned safety glass
Safe operation:
Protection mode prevents unauthorised access

Core features

  • Projected capacitive touch technology for intuitive operation like smartphones or tablets.
  • 4-finger touchscreen enables precise operation with several fingers or two hands simultaneously.
  • Operating system: Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC
  • High-performance CPU: Intel Atom E3950, Quad-Core
  • Pre-installed Galileo or Visual Designer runtime licence
  • Anti-glare, single-paned safety glass for use in rough industrial environments. Modern, hygienic design for easy cleaning.
  • Approvals: CE, UL, UKCA, ATEX, Class 1 Div 2 (in process: DNV)

Intuitive gesture control

The projected capacitive touch (PCT) technology enables intuitive multi-touch operation (using multiple fingers or both hands). Just like on any touchpad and smartphone, operators can use two fingers to zoom and scroll and thereby navigate the elements and documents in the help system. High-precision sensors prevent operating errors and accidental machine starts. Critical functions can only be activated by pressing multiple control fields at once, which delivers significantly greater system safety compared with single-touch panels.

Easy connectivity

The efficient panel PCs feature an Intel Atom E3950 Quad Core CPU and ensure high processing capacity, as well as high-performance graphics. In addition to the two Ethernet and four USB interfaces, the devices are equipped with a configurable RS232/RS422/RS485 interface. Furthermore, an SD card can be used for operation or data storage in addition to the internal 64 GB mass storage.

The PC and terminal can be used as separate units, which is ideal for users looking for a more flexible way to incorporate the XP500 industrial PC into their machine, system or building. The box PC is placed in the control panel and exchanges data with one or more terminals. The box PC has the same interfaces as the panel PC and offers a slim PC solution for a control panel with its compact design.

Extender module

The extender unit allows full HD video and USB data to be transferred over a distance of up to 100 metres, making it a reliable transmission option for modular machines, plants and building applications in particular. The extender can be easily mounted on the DIN rail. As well as an RJ45 terminal bush, the device is equipped with a USB 2.0 port and a display port connection. The use in ambient temperatures from -20°C to +50°C makes the extender module particularly resistant.

The robust terminals measuring 10.1, 15.6 and 21.5 inches open up a wide range of options for distributing the XP500 system around your plant. The PC-based touch monitors can be used as pure visualisation devices for display and direct input, or alternatively with an on-board extender for transmission distances of up to 100 metres. The devices each have a DVI-I, DP and USB-B port.

Panel PC

The panel PCs in the XP500 series feature an exceptional degree of openness and outstanding performance parameters. The devices run on the Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC operating system, are compatible with a wide range of application software and can also be perfectly combined with Eaton‘s visualization software. With IP65 degree of protection, the devices are suitable for use in ambient temperatures ranging from 0 °C to +45 °C.

A rugged and attractive design

The sleek, modern appearance, which is further enhanced by the anti-reflective screen, is only one aspect of the stand-out design of the XP500 series. Easy and residue-free cleaning is the main priority. This is guaranteed by the smooth, anti-reflective screen, which is made from tempered safety glass without any edges or gaps. Even strong cleaning agents thus pose no challenge for the devices. Moreover, the glass screen is also scratch-resistant. The high degree of protection at the front makes the devices ideal for use in harsh environments.

A system that is both open and safe

The devices run on Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC operating system. This ensures compatibility with many different types of application software, as well as with Eaton's visualisation software Galileo and VisualDesigner. A special protection mode, which has passed the comprehensive Eaton cybersecurity tests, protects the hardware and software from unwanted modifications and access. Further enhances the reliability of the system and reduces boot time.

Scalable software solutions

Galileo

Galileo 10 is an intuitive and powerful engineering environment that takes little time to master. This versatile software meets basic requirements involved in today’s on-machine operation. It is tailored to the needs of system integrators and reflects the latest in visualization technology.

HTML5-based remote access enables access to the runtime with common browsers such as Chrome and Safari.
