    Magnetic fields module

    The magnetic fields module (EMF) provides the ability to evaluate the magnetic flux density at any point on or above the ground of an underground cable installation.

Make informed decisions with accurate magnetic flux density data

After a steady-state ampacity or temperature simulation, the magnetic fields module computes the magnetic flux density at any point on or above the ground of an underground cable installation. The output is a plot (or a table) of magnetic flux density versus position.

Highlighted features 

  • Considers the infinite-length thin-wire two-dimensional approach 
  • Analyses the time-varying currents producing an elliptically polarised rotating magnetic vector
  • Allows for unbalanced magnitudes and phases in the currents of a three-phase circuit
  • Assumes that all media is homogeneous, isotropic and linear
  • Neglects the induced currents
