    Short-circuit cable rating module

    The short-circuit cable rating module (CYMCAP/SCR) is a specialised tool designed to calculate cable ratings based on their ability to withstand short-circuit currents.

Get comprehensive short-circuit ratings for all metallic layers in power cables

This module ensures accuracy and reliability in the rating process by implementing a method based on the IEC Standard 60949 (1988). It allows the computing of both adiabatic and non-adiabatic ratings.

Highlighted features: 

  • Computes the maximum short-circuit current that a cable component can carry given the short-circuit time as well as the initial and final temperatures
  • Computes the final temperature a given cable component will reach for a specified short-circuit current, initial temperature and time interval 
  • Allows computing of short-circuit ratings for all metallic layers supported in the power cable ampacity software, including conductor, sheath, concentric neutrals, skid wires and armour
  • Enables the creation of cable damage curves, which can be exported in a CYMTCC format
