Medium-voltage transformers

PEAK substation transformer

Eaton's Cooper Power series PEAK substation transformer is filled with FR3 dielectric fluid and is uniquely designed to manage increased loads and temporary overload capacity without loss of life expectancy compared to mineral oil-filled alternatives. Offering the ability to operate beyond full rated load from 12% to 22%, the transformer’s smaller, lighter footprint further enhances value.

75 °C average winding rise
Lower cost, more compact design
AWR slash ratings
65/75 °C (12% kVA increase); 55/75 °C (22% kVA increase)
Base rating
300–12,500 kVA

Core features

  • Designed to improve performance in terms of kVA rating, compact dimensions, lighter weight, safety and sustainability
  • Offers increased overload capacity (with 55/75 or 65/75 °C slash rating)
  • Utilizing an advanced high-temperature insulation system approach and an optimized core and coil design, a 75 rise PEAK transformer results in a smaller footprint and a lighter unit capable of the same ratings as a physically larger 65 °C AWR rated unit

Better manage temporary overloads

Eaton's Cooper Power series PEAK substation transformers can be loaded beyond base rated load up to 122% of base kVA, helping utilities to more precisely size transformers based on periods of peak demand — without impacting insulation life.

Increase transformer reliability and lifespan

The capacity to load PEAK transformers continuously at higher temperature and varying loads without causing damage to the transformer enhances overall system reliability while providing a longer equipment lifespan.

Just as much power in smaller design

A 75 °C Average Winding Rise (AWR) PEAK transformer results in a smaller footprint and a lighter unit capable of the same ratings as a physically larger 65 °C AWR rated unit.

Save space and reduce equipment coordination

Close-couple medium voltage liquid-filled transformers with low and medium voltage assemblies in a streamlined unit substation design.
